# Character Reference
**You can use images as character references in your prompt to create images of the same character in different situations.**
To add character references to a prompt, use the --cref parameter with the web address (URL) where the image is stored online: `--cref URL`

* Character references work best when using images generated by Low Content AI that feature a single character.
* `--cref` is **not** designed to be used with photographs of real people, and will distort them.
* Precise details like specific freckles or t-shirt logos aren't likely to be copied.
* You can use multiple character references in a single prompt, but probably don't need to.
* Any regular image prompts must go before `--cref`.

### How to Apply the Character Reference
To use the **consistent character** feature, start by uploading the image you want to work with. Simply click on the **paperclip icon** to attach your image.
After uploading, a window will appear prompting you to copy the image URL.
Click the **"Copy"** button to copy the URL provided. Then, paste this URL into the text box to proceed with the next steps.
Next, go to the **Commands** section and locate the **--cref** field. Paste the copied URL into this field. Once you have done this, click **"Confirm"** to save your changes.
Finally, you can enter your new prompt to proceed with your task using the consistent character.
